About Us
Jakee Miller Cohen
Jakee graduated from Northwestern University School of Law and studied history and political science at Indiana University and the London School of Economics. Jakee served on the Board of Trustees of Mount Sinai Hospital and as a Commissioner for the Human Relations Commission for the City of Highland Park, Illinois. Jakee has volunteered for the Ashoka Foundation locating K-12 schools interested in instituting social entrepreneurship programs. She has participated in panel discussions about gifted children and parenting at Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development. Additionally, Jakee presented at national Youth Venture workshops for parents and youth on fostering empathy and social entrepreneurship.
Melanie Hanig
Melanie has lived on the North Shore for over 20 years. She has served on the North Suburban Medical Research Jr. Board, the 113 Foundation Board, and currently serves on the 112 Education Foundation Board. In addition, for the past seven years Melanie has volunteered with College Bound Opportunities as a gala chair and as a mentor. Melanie has four children - three of whom went through the college process. She has experience with college athletic recruitment, Ivy Leagues admissions & college disability programs. She is an IECA Associate Member.
Lisa Xilas
Lisa graduated from Hope College and worked in human resources for over 10 years. In addition, Lisa was a co-owner & partner in the Latte T-Shirt Company. For the last twenty years, Lisa has volunteered in both the 112 and 113 school districts and currently serves on the 113 Foundation Board. In addition, Lisa volunteers on the Gala Committee at the non-profit organization CBO and is a college mentor. Lisa resides in Highland Park with her husband and two children.
